Avery Strickland is a promising guard for the Tennessee Lady Volunteers women’s basketball team. Born on March 29, 2004, in Raleigh, North Carolina, she has quickly become a notable figure in collegiate basketball.

Strickland attended Farragut High School in Knoxville, Tennessee, where she made a significant impact on the basketball court. In her senior year, she averaged 17.8 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.5 steals per game, shooting 48% from the field. Her performance led Farragut to a 28-9 record and their first appearance in the state championship game. During the state tournament, she elevated her game, averaging 20.7 points and 6.3 rebounds per game, while shooting 52.2% from the field and 36.4% from beyond the arc.

Strickland joined the Tennessee Lady Volunteers in 2022. In her freshman season, she appeared in all 30 games, starting 11, and averaged 6.2 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 20.1 minutes per game. She led the team with 39 three-pointers, shooting 33.9% from beyond the arc. Notably, she scored in double figures four times, including a standout performance against Georgia Tech with 17 points, four rebounds, and one assist in 37 minutes.

Strickland is the daughter of Anissa Strickland and has two brothers, Cameron and Carson, and a sister, Alayna. Her brother Cameron played baseball at Tennessee and ETSU, while Carson played baseball at Motlow State Community College. Strickland is majoring in sport management with a minor in business administration.
