The New Orleans Saints have re-signed running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire to a one-year contract, reinforcing their backfield depth for the upcoming season.

Background and Career Highlights

Edwards-Helaire, a Baton Rouge native, was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs as the 32nd overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. During his tenure with the Chiefs, he contributed significantly to the team’s success, including two Super Bowl championships in 2022 and 2023. Over 50 career games, he has amassed 1,891 rushing yards, 789 receiving yards, and 19 total touchdowns.

Transition to the Saints

In December 2024, after being released by the Chiefs, Edwards-Helaire joined the Saints’ practice squad. He made an immediate impact, playing in the final two games of the 2024 season. In these appearances, he recorded 46 rushing yards on 13 carries and 24 receiving yards on three receptions.
