Spring football is over for the Florida State Seminoles. That means the program must scramble in the coming weeks during the NCAA’s 15-day spring window for transfers. The Seminoles must cut at least four players to reach the 85-man scholarship limit, and will likely have more.Redshirt freshman Vandrevius Jacobs entered the portal Monday afternoon, 247Sport’s Matt Zenitz reported. Jacobs is entering his first year in Tallahassee and has battled for the deep wide receiver role.Jacobs led the Seminoles during the Garnet and Gold spring showcase with two catches for 61 yards and one touchdown. He ended the show with a long touchdown catch. As a result, Jacobs was inconsistent during the spring and made some mental mistakes.The Florida native appeared in five games during the 2023 season with three catches for 60 yards and one touchdown. Jacobs caught a pass in the home opener against Southern Miss. He had a 19-yard reception for a touchdown in the third quarter of Pittsburgh’s win. Jacobs also had a season-high 28 yards in the home finale against North Alabama.Jacobs originally signed with the Seminoles as a #Tribe23 4-star prospect. He was one of the rising stars of spring practice a year ago before dealing with nagging injuries all season.After his departure, FSU still has 12 scholarship players; redshirt senior Kentron Poitier, redshirt senior Ja’Khi Douglas, redshirt senior Darion Williamson, redshirt senior Deuce Spann, senior Malik Benson, sophomore Hykeem Williams, sophomore Destyn Hill, redshirt freshman Jalen Brown, freshman BJ Gibson, freshman Camdon Frier, freshman Lawayne McCoy, and freshman Elijah Moore.Florida State currently has three scholarship players entering the portal this spring; Jacobs, cornerback Greedy Vance and linebacker Joshua Burrell. The Seminoles are currently projected to be 88/85 in scholarship.The Seminoles have running back Tate Rodemaker (Southern Miss), running back AJ Duffy (San Diego State), running back Rodney Hill (Arkansas) and defensive end CJ.
