Report: Pakistan Cricket Board to announce new head coach on…

By the end of this month, Pakistan’s Cricket Board (PCB) will announce a new coaching team for its national red and white ball formats. Gary Kirsten and Jason Gillespie, two well-known coaches, applied, but no decision has been made yet. A PCB official said on Friday that Pakistan will announce a new set of coaches for the national team’s red and white ball formats by the end of the month. In addition, the PCB confirmed that the board had received applications from a few well-known coaches by the April 15 deadline, in addition to Gary Kirsten of South Africa and Jason Gillespie of Australia. The PCB official stated that they are interested in Kirsten and Gillispie in addition to the other applicants. “The PCB director, Mohsin Naqvi has clarified that the drawn out arrangements of mentors will be finished through a fair treatment and all responsibilities would be met by the board,” the report added. When it appointed Misbah-ul-Haq as the national team’s head coach and chief selector in 2019, the PCB followed proper procedure. From that point forward, all arrangements have either been made on a consultancy or interval premise. According to another reputable PCB source, the board will only invite candidates for interviews who apply for coaching positions this time. According to the source, “Even in Kirsten and Gillispie’s case though, the board has held direct negotiations with them, and they remain top candidates to be appointed head coaches.” However, the source also stated that “they were also told to apply through due process by the deadline.” He acknowledged that the PCB will need time until the end of the month to make a decision and make an announcement due to the fact that other intriguing candidates have applied for the head coach position. The source stated, “The PCB chief doesn’t want names to be revealed at any stage, and names would only be revealed once announcements are made.” Additionally, the PCB has maintained April 20 as the application deadline for assistant coach positions. The source continued, “Even Azhar Mahmood has to go through the process, and at the moment, he was named head coach for the New Zealand series on a basis of consulting.”
