Former Seminoles star Ernie Sims returns to Florida State as

Previous Florida State linebacker and first-round NFL Draft pick Ernie Sims is returning home. Florida State reported Monday that Sims, brought up in Tallahassee, will join lead trainer Mike Norvell’s staff as a guarded examiner. “I am so glad to bring Ernie back home into this program,” Norvell said in a proclamation. “He was a huge player at Florida State and in the NFL, and he has an abundance of football information and experience as a player and mentor. This is a brilliant chance to keep improving our football staff as we work to place our players and mentors in the best situation to find success.” Sims played for the Seminoles from 2003-05 and was an All-American as a sophomore in 2004. He left school early and turned into the No. 9 by and large pick by the Detroit Lions in the 2006 draft. Following an eight-year NFL profession with the Lions (2006-09), Philadelphia Birds (2010), Indianapolis Foals (2011) and Dallas Cowpokes (2012-13), Sims resigned and started his school training vocation in his home province of Florida.
