He gained a wealth of knowledge and experience in the competition and played a key role in the Demons’ title-winning campaign in 2022.Prior to that, he was head coach of the Sandringham Dragons Girls team for three years.Hyett was also awarded the 2022 AFLCA Women’s Coaching Scholarship.”We are delighted to welcome Tamara to the red, white and blue as our AFLW senior coach,” Bulldogs managing director of football Chris Grant said.“Tamara has a lot of knowledge and coaching experience, especially in women’s football, as well as a clear understanding of what it takes to be a professional athlete.”Leading one of the best back lines in the competition in Melbourne and being part of a long successful AFLW program gives Tamara a great opportunity to lead this team forward and lead the development of a talented group of women.”We can don’t expect Tamara to own this program.”Bulldogs chief executive Ameet Bains echoed Grant’s sentiments as Hyett prepares to take charge of the AFLW team ahead of the 2024 season.”We are very excited to have someone of Tamara’s caliber joins our club,” Bains said.“Tamara impressed us during the recruiting process with her leadership skills and clear articulation of her coaching philosophy and goals for our women’s program.”Her unique blend of experience in both elite girls’ and women’s football will enable Tamara to build a high quality culture that develops and nurtures the exciting young players on our roster.”We are delighted to book this appointment in our. roster for the AFLW program as we strive for consistent performance and continued success on the field.”Hyett said he is grateful for the opportunity and cannot wait to lead the club into its next chapter.”This is really proud moment Driving here has been something I’ve been thinking about for the last six years and being a girl from the western suburbs myself, I’m really proud,” she said.”This is a founding club that supported women’s football even before the AFLW.
