The former North Melbourne head coach is reportedly in the running for an open AFLW position.Former North Melbourne head coach Danielle Laidley continues her return to the industry, with Laidley linked with an open Western Bulldogs AFLW job.As first reported by CODE Sportsand#039; Daniel Cherny, a former Eagle and Roo, is said to be one of the final candidates still vying for the role at Whitten Oval following the departure of former Saint Nathan Burke at the end of the 2023 season.While Laidley has offered no public comment on the kennel’s performance, the champion trainer winner has previously indicated he is ready when the call comes.”It’s true (I want to get back into coaching),” Laidley revealed to SEN last year before West Coast offered their head coaching job to Daisy Pearce.”We’ve been waiting for the documentary (Danielle Laidley: Two Tribes) to come out because I had a contract for it.”It’s been my passion and I’ve been ready for about 12 months and even this AFLW season I was asked to coach one of the teams in Melbourne. But I couldn’t because I had an appointment with the doctor.”People connected the dots, there’s an opening on the west coast and yes, I want to train again.”Laidley had a 50 per cent win rate when he managed his old side from 2003 to 2009, leading North Melbourne to finals in three of seven seasons.The West Australian also played 151 games for West Coast and the Shinboners.
