Former Arizona Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury has agreed to terms to become the Commander’s offensive coordinator, NFL insider Peter Schrageri said.Kingsbury originally agreed to be the offensive coordinator for the Las Vegas Raiders under head coach Antonio Pierce. However, negotiations broke down, likely after news broke of Quinn’s employment with Washington.Kingsbury withdrew from consideration with the Raiders to pursue other opportunities and immediately became a leading contender for the Commanders’ Open. Now he has become Quinn’s big tenant in Washington.Kingsbury has a lot of experience. He was a sixth round draft pick of the New England Patriots in 2002. After his playing career extended to the Canadian Football League, he entered the coaching ranks. He later became the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at the University of Houston and Texas A&M.He was the head coach at Texas Tech for six seasons with a 35-40 record and two shutouts. After being fired in 2018, Kingsbury became the head coach of the Cardinals the following year with the addition of Kyler Murray.Unfortunately, he struggled as a head coach in the NFL, going 28-37-1 before being fired after the 2022 season.Last year, he was USC’s senior offensive analyst and coached No. 1 prospect Caleb Williams.
