Will Dallas Consider Johnson?We can’t get too far ahead of ourselves on this one.This would be an unusual move by the Cowboys organization, so we have to consider whether they would take such a step first.Jerry Jones likes acquaintance, connections and experience.If you look at the full list of Cowboys head coaches, you’ll see a lot of internal campaigns and people dealing with Jones before the hiring.Basically, hiring a young, usually inexperienced coach like Johnson would be a departure from many of the Jones family’s hiring traditions. So why would they?The answer is hidden. The Cowboys are particularly fond of offensive head coaches lately.In 2010, Dallas fired head coach and defensive guru Wade Phillips. Since then, Dallas’ two head coaches have both been offensive playmakers.It makes no sense for the Cowboys to reverse that trend if they let McCarthy walk in 2025.Offense is still that team’s strong suit, and that won’t change with Dak Prescott as the boss and young. Guns like CeeDee Lamb and Jake Ferguson will be in the house for the foreseeable future.This fact means they have to account for Johnson and his incredible offensive ability. He will be the best and most sought after offensive line coach this time next year.Johnson gives Dallas a chance to boost their offense in a big way. That intrigues the Cowboys front office, even if it means stepping out of their comfort zone.Is Johnson fit?The important thing to consider here is whether Johnson would fit in Dallas. Neither the organization nor the coach cares if things just don’t work out.To find out, we have to look at Johnsonand#039’s track record as a coach in Detroit.The Lions are coming off one of the best seasons in franchise history, and Johnson’s offense is a big reason.Johnson was able to put Jared Goff, a quarterback who is not at the league’s highest elite level, into a career year.He did this with a snap move, making it easy to read his quarterback, using the run game, and using Amon-Ra St. Make the most of Brown’s star WR1.Boy, that would sound good in Dallas.Prescott and Lamb rank higher than Goff and St. Brownand#039;s, so if Johnson could get his hands on a pair of the improved versions he’s had so much success with, how incredible would it be for the Cowboys#039; get a crime?The sky would be the limit and right now Dallas is the limit in the NFC divisional round.Can this happen?At first glance, Johnson seems like a dream to Dallas.When you consider that McCarthy could very well be out of a job next season and Johnson will still be the head coach with Detroit after this “last dance”, it starts to add up.Instead, it takes more than an opening and a candidate to conclude that it can legitimately happen.The reason why this is perfect is deeper; it talks about Johnsonand’s philosophy and plan and the unique opportunity that Dallas can offer compared to other teams.If the Cowboys are looking for a new head coach next year, it means they’ve had another season of failure.Just this week Jones said he was getting in this year. If they do and still fail, something dramatic should change.Johnson would bring a modern style that ranked 5th in rushing this season, while McCarthy’s offense and#039; it was 11 p.m.This would be a new and probably better system.This is not a man who leaves at the first offer; clearly winning means more to him than being a head coach just for the sake of being a head coach.The opportunity to come to Dallas with all that comes with it and work with such a good offensive staff is a great opportunity for Johnson.There’s plenty of time between now and 2025, but right now the Cowboys appear to be Johnson’s top target next offseason.The biggest story in the NFL this week wasn’t hiring, firing or Super Bowl news.Rather, it was Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson who announced he would not be looking for a head coach this offseason.That took Washington’s best CO candidate and, by some accounts, this cycle’s best coaching candidate, off the board.He turned down interest from a head coach last year because he didn’t feel he was getting experience; this time he wants to come back with Detroit to get a ring.You have to respect Johnson’s loyalty and belief in wanting to win a championship with the Lions, but there is little to no chance he will make the same decision next year.Especially if the new success in Detroit continues, money and interest should be at an all-time high for the 37-year-old coordinator.This surprising move could also open the door for the Dallas Cowboys in the 2025 offseason.Could Johnson, as desirable as he is, be the successor to Mike McCarthy, who has just one season left on his contract?
