According to Matt Zenitz, Arizona State defensive lineman BJ Green is transferring to Colorado. The All-Pac-12 selection previously committed to Washington before Kalen DeBoer left for Alabama in mid-January. Ole Miss was also in the mix for Green, who visited Oxford last weekend.The 6-foot, 270-pound defensive lineman played in 36 games at Arizona State. Green started all 12 games for the Sun Devils this past season. He finished with 39 total tackles, which was second most among defensive linemen at Arizona State. Green also had 11.5 tackles for loss and six sacks.Green originally entered the transfer window on April 12 when the winter window opened. Two weeks later, he transferred to Washington, where DeBoer remained head coach at the time. Green, however, kept his transfer recruitment open after DeBoer filled the Jan. 12 vacancy at Alabama.Green hopes to add another transfer in the 2024 cycle to the already large Deion Sanders and Colorado Portal class. The Buffaloes own a top-10 class nationally with more than 20 incoming transfers since the winter window closed. Green would be Colorado’s fourth-highest-rated transfer this offseason behind second-year defensive lineman Samuel Okunlola (Pittsburgh) and Quency Wiggins (LSU).Including Green, the Buffaloes have seven four-star transfers in 2024. That’s fourth among all FBS programs. Green is the No. 7 transfer defensive lineman regardless of position and the No. 65 overall prospect on the list.One of Colorado’s main goals after the 2023 season was to improve the defensive front. The Buffaloes ranked 110th nationally in yards allowed per game (176.42) and 96th in turnovers (65.0). Colorado also came in just short of pressuring opposing quarterbacks with 27 sacks, which ranked 63rd in the nation.Colorado finished last in the Pac-12, losing eight of its last nine games after a 3-0 start to the Sanders era.Green, who has one year of eligibility remaining, committed to Arizona State before the 2021 campaign and later earned a scholarship after seeing action in all 12 games of the season. He recorded eight total tackles, including five sacks.Green saw a bigger role as a sophomore in 2022, finishing fourth among all FBS inside linebackers with 11 quarterback hits. His 37 quarterback pressures ranked 10th among FBS inside linebackers despite seeing significantly fewer snaps than his peers. Green recorded 13 total tackles on the season, including 4.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks.Green is rated as a low three-star prospect coming out of Prince Avenue Christian School in Powder Springs, Ga., in the 2021 recruiting class. He was the No. 260 ranked linebacker and No. 184 overall prospect regardless of position in the Peach State. Green recorded 73 tackles, including 20 tackles for loss and 12 sacks, in a dominant season for the Wolverines..
