Done deal: Nottingham Forest have finally completed the deal of Reading FC utility player medicals have been booked on…

Reading centre-back Nelson Abbey has joined Olympiacos on a permanent deal.Although it is terrible for Reading to lose Abbey, they should be able to pursue other options.Abbey could be part of Nottingham Forest’s plans in the future.Reading centre-back Nelson Abbey will join Greek giants Olympiakos on a permanent deal, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed. The King’s Sand#039; the defender enjoyed a very successful season at the Elect Car Leasing Stadium, being a regular starter in the early stages of the season and impressing at times despite the club’s weak league position. While Abbey obviously needs to work on aspects of his game, his speed, intelligence and strength at 20 years old is remarkable and has attracted the attention of several teams. He was previously thought to have been approached byLuton Town – but a move to Kenilworth Road ultimately failed for the young defender – Royalsand#039; supporters sigh in relief. That complacency didn’t last long, as it was reported that Olympiacos was close to signing Abbey even before today and Romano’s update. The England youth international missed the recent games against Wigan Athletic and Derby County due to his switch to the Greek side. The Royals allowed just one hit to Tyler Bindon and Tom Holmesand over those two games #039; congratulations but Abbey will be missed and many fans are sad to see him go as he has the potential to become an even better player. The deal is now nearing completion and will bring income to the Royals, although it is unclear how much money they will receive from the move.As for Abbey’s next club and plans, it looks like he will be a key player at Olympiakos and Nottingham Forest in the long term. Both teams are owned by Evangelos Marinakis. This is a possible hint that he might move to the City Land at some point, although it remains to be seen when he will move to the East Midlands if he does.Forest could be in the Premier League for many more years – and that could make it harder for the 20-year-old to break into the Red Sand#039; plans, unless he develops well in Greece.Nelson Abbey may not be making the best move of his career. From Reading’s point of view, it will be crazy for them to lose him because he is a young player who has a real connection with the fans and is more of an asset than a liability. However, they should be able to cope, as things stand, because of their summer business and the fact Holmes was loaned back to the Royals for the remainder of the season. For Abbey though, there are no guarantees that he will thrive at Olympiacos and potentially Forest after leaving the EFL.Josh Bowler went on a similar path, leaving Blackpool, and itand#039;s a move that hasnand#039;t fully worked out for him thus far.Abbey is a real talent – and you just hope he hasnand#039;t been pressured into leaving the Select Car Leasing Stadium for financial reasons. His potential must not go to waste..
