Michael Beale takes a leaf out of Rangers’ strategy during victory lap at Sunderland as jubilant manager grabs two Ibrox catchphrases

Michael Beale was delighted with the win over Hull City, giving him his first win as Sunderland manager.
And his report after the Boxing Day win will be familiar to Rangers fans, with him returning to his tried-and-true playbook after winning the English Championship.
The Black Cats are back on track with fans calling for the return of sacked manager Tony Mowbray after a crushing 3-0 defeat to Coventry at the Stadium of Light in Beale’s first game.
However, Beale performed well against play-off rivals Hull, moving into sixth place with a narrow 1-0 win at the MKM Stadium.
After the final whistle, Beal praised the players for showing two important factors: mentality and character.
Sunderland manager said: “I’m completely satisfied with the mentality of the group.
I think we can be a bit more cautious in the final third and go for the perfect goal.
And that quote echoes comments he made after his first win in the Ibrox hotseat during an ill-fated 11 months at Govan.
After beating Hibs 3-2, he said: In the second half we dominated, really considering the information I gave them.
We had some big chances to extend our lead, so I’m very happy.
